The characterization of alpha-tocopherol liposomes was carried out by the characterization of the size, zeta potential and thermotropic properties of vesicles. The biological activity of the prepared vesicles was studied. The properties of alpha-tocopherol encapsulating liposomes (PEG-St/SL) evaluated by various parameters including their morphological characteristics, size, zeta potential, tocopherol loading efficacy, and entrapment efficiency (EE%) are presented. The TFE method was used to prepare the nanovesicular systems. The content of alpha-tocopherol was determined by the method of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) using a C8 column with a mobile phase of acetonitrile-methanol (45/55, v/v) pumped through the column at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. The analysis was performed by the ultraviolet detector at 292 nm. The EE% for the prepared vesicles varied from 32% to 97%, with the PEG-St/SL at the molar ratio of 1:1. The morphology of the vesicles was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies.
